Hotel Sustainability Efforts
- Automation system with automatic heating/cooling resets during the unoccupied period
- High-efficiency shower heads sink faucets and toilets throughout the property for water conservation.
- Linen and towel reuse program. Guests who opt out of housekeeping service will receive 500 Marriott Rewards points per day. The program helps us save water and energy as well as reduces detergents released to the environment.
- LED Lighting in all public spaces and back-of-the-house spaces
- Motion-censored lighting throughout the hotel to conserve energy
- Organic waste compost program that enables our kitchen to dramatically reduce food waste and operate more sustainable facility
- Usage of eco-friendly products such as straws, cups/sleeves, disposable utensils
- Water bottle refill station
- Use recycled paper throughout the hotel.
- Financial support for public transportation rather than single-person/vehicle transportation for hotel associates
- Motion sensors in the back of the house, many offices, storage areas, and the garage.
- Purchase Preference is given to local and sustainable product suppliers for the lower carbon footprint.
- Use Green certified cleaning chemicals
- Operate with RTI system, which allows us to reduce cardboard and plastic jug usage by providing a bulk oil and filtration operating system. It also reduces the amount of oil we use with its advanced filtration system.
- The first hotel in Portland to have a full-time associate dedicated to the collecting, sorting, and recycling of the following:
- Paper, cardboard, newspaper, pallets, and scrap wood
- Glass, plastic, batteries, styrofoam, plastic food containers, metal products, electronics, and computers
