The Renaissance Seattle Hotel honors the founding legacy of J. Willard Marriott by focusing on its impact on the world around us. Through a number of initiatives, we are responsible for reducing environmental impacts, protecting communities and the environment as a whole. Each of our associates contributes to providing a safe and sustainable place where guests can relax and take care of themselves.

Green Initiatives:

  • As you enter the library you will see an artistic chandelier made from 100% renewable materials. Seattle is on the forefront of environmental conservation including regulated energy usage indexes (a measure of facility energy performance based on square footage) for all buildings, mandatory composting, recycling, and to-go material bans
  • Seattle's Climate Action Plan established a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 58% below 2008 levels by 2030 and to achieve zero net core emissions by 2050
  • Over 80% of the power distributed across sustainable Seattle is generated from clean, carbon-free hydroelectricity
  • Green Space commitment: Managing a 6,441-acre park system of over 480 parks, 12% of the city’s land is devoted to providing healthy and natural vegetation
