New Year's Day Junkanoo Parade: Nassau & Paradise Island
Junkanoo, the Bahamas’ National Festival is the perfect opportunity to live a true Bahamian expression of art and culture. The parade takes place along Bay Street in downtown Nassau during January 1st and 2nd. People with elaborate costumes dances while several musicians plays their instruments, as thousands of local and visitors watch and enjoy all day long.
Aruba’s Carnival
A lot of events that bring you colorfully decorated floats, contagiously throbbing music, luxuriously costumed groups of celebrants of all ages, King & Queen elections, electrifying jump ups and torch light parades that wind their way through the streets at night, the Jouvert morning: the Children's Parades and finally the Grand Parade from February 10th and 11th.
Curacao Carnival
The period of carnival festivities at Curacao culminates at February 11 to 13, with the “Gran Marcha” which is the Main Parade on the last sunday before Ash Wednesday and the Farewell Parade on the evening of the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday.
Haiti Carnival
At Haiti, Carnival is still a time of great joy and intense celebration. The popular Mardi Gras, is the end of the renamed carnival season which begins on Sunday to reach its culmination during the three days prior to Ash Wednesday, from February 11 to 13.
Santo Domingo Carnival
While carnival events take place around the entire Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo's festivals along the Malecón are the most large-scale and occurs every weekend in February. Visitors can expect spectacular parades, costumed performers, dancing, rum drinking, and street food. The masks worn by the over 30,000 participants in the parade symbolize good and evil.
